I came to NJIT after ~six months of being a stay-at-home dad. After an introduction to Simon Nynens, the university's Chief Commercialization Officer, I came on board to help rebuild and reimagine the incubation program. For the past few decades NJIT has grown significantly, recently earning the prestigious R1 Carnegie classification - the highest possible for research. That means more innovation and more entrepreneurship.
The previous incubator, the Enterprise Development Center, had a long history of success but was imagined as way to attract entrepreneurial small businesses to the university. My goal was to build a program for creating startups from within, supporting students, staff, and faculty.
