After I left the Navy and right before I showed up to Carnegie Mellon for B-School, I went to Cape May, NJ to visit one of my oldest and closest friends, Patrick (PJ) Morse at his parent's place. While having a beer in their living room, PJ tells me "Hey, so I know you're into startups. I have an idea inspired by my PhD work that I think could be something." That was the start.
With PJ, I started growing a company that would become ConnectWith. I didn't know anything about building startups, but I was lucky enough to have access to Carnegie Mellon's Entrepreneurship programming. We took the company through Innovation Works' AlphaLab accelerator and eventually got to a small acquisition.
